AmeriCorps Mentor
This role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious team working towards closing the achievement gap and removing barriers to learning for youth. Students are at the heart of our work. We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and independent CalSERVES Mentor to support the academic and social skills development of high-need students in local area schools. Our program partners with schools to identify students who would benefit from a positive, adult role model that can give targeted academic support as well as mentor students to be their most resilient selves.

AmeriCorps VIP Fellow
VIP Fellows will increase the number of high-value (skilled and corporate) volunteers providing needed services to nonprofit and educational organizations that serve children, youth and families. Additionally, VIP Fellows will build capacity within the Partner Site volunteer program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful.

VIP Fellows work as a part of a team to coordinate volunteer programs and to coach and support a cadre of high-value volunteers. The VIP Fellows’ primary role is developing the volunteer program at the Partner Site, bringing resources of highly-skilled volunteers to the children and families the program serves. VIP Fellows spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships. This position is a valuable opportunity to develop and apply your leadership and community organizing skills to make a lasting difference in the lives of children, youth, their families, and the local community.

Leadership Positions

AmeriCorps Expanded Learning Regional Leader
This role provides an exciting opportunity to enhance the quality of services provided by multiple teams of AmeriCorps members working towards closing the achievement gap and removing barriers to learning for youth. We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic and independent CalSERVES Regional Leader to act as a support for the full time AmeriCorps Mentors working at school sites where we have partnered. The full time AmeriCorps Mentors will be working with identified students who would benefit from a positive, adult role model that can give targeted academic support as well as mentor students to be their most resilient selves. The CalSERVES Regional Leader’s role will be to continually boost the morale of the AmeriCorps Mentors, support the planning and implementation of CalSERVES events, and recruit and train volunteers who can support the CalSERVES program.

Applicants applying for full time leadership positions should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with elementary and/or middle school students, or 1 year with the CalSERVES programs. Previous AmeriCorps experience is strongly preferred.

AmeriCorps VIP Statewide Leader
The Statewide VIP Leader will support AmeriCorps members in increasing the number of volunteers providing needed services to children, youth and families who face economic hardship in the community. Additionally, the Statewide VIP Leader will build capacity within the local and statewide volunteer program to provide the support, skills and resources volunteers need to be successful.

As the Statewide VIP Leader, you will be part of a team working jointly to coordinate programs and to coach and support a cadre of VIP Fellows placed at Partner Sites throughout the state. Your primary role will be to support the statewide members in developing their volunteer programs. In this role you will spend time in the community, building partnerships, and forging lasting relationships. As the VIP Statewide Leader, you will also be responsible for coaching and mentoring VIP Fellows at the Partner Sites. Some examples of this might include: conducting monthly statewide calls, making weekly calls with local VIP Leaders and Fellows to discuss successes and challenges, and helping to organize and plan trainings and community service events. This position is a wonderful opportunity to develop and apply your leadership, community organizing, and youth work skills and make a lasting difference in the lives of children, youth, their families, and the local community.

Previous AmeriCorps experience is strongly preferred.

The After School Classroom Leader will facilitate one grade-level classroom of 20 students. It is the responsibility of the Cool School Classroom Leader to independently plan, organize, and perform a wide variety of specialized duties in the implementation of the CalSERVES Cool School Program.
