Who is CalSERVES?
Here is what some of our members have to say about their experience in our programs.
What You’ll Do
At CalSERVES’s project sites across California, AmeriCorps members serve either full or part-time for 10-12 months, providing more than 1,700 (full time) or 900 (part time) hours of service.
As part of the CalSERVES After School programs, AmeriCorps members serve in elementary and middle schools as tutors, mentors, role models, and leaders. During your service term, you will create a positive learning environment with your students, strengthening students’ abilities both academically and socially. Leadership opportunities are available for applicants with previous service experience.
AmeriCorps members work with community organizations to develop their volunteer programs through the CalSERVES Volunteer Infrastructure Project (VIP). They are committed to building program capacity by putting in place the building blocks for a sustainable, high quality volunteer program. Leadership opportunities are available for applicants with previous service experience.
AmeriCorps members serving in the CalPREP program will increase college readiness of students in partner schools and educational organizations by initiating youth-mentor matches. The CalPREP Fellow will recruit, orient, and train volunteer mentors who will guide students through the CalPREP college-readiness curriculum.
