Yesenia Sandoval-Chavira is currently serving as an After School Program Manager (Napa). Yesenia oversee the After School AmeriCorps program at 10 of our Napa Elementary and Middle School sites, and helps oversee 17 After School grants with compliance, training and technical support. Previous to her role as an After School Manager, Yesenia served as Site Supervisor at Bellevue Elementary, in Santa Rosa, for five years. In addition, Yesenia also develops and facilitates professional development opportunities for both Classroom Leaders and AmeriCorps Mentors. Yesenia’s experience in the After School field, previous to her role as After School Manger and Site Supervisor, include, serving as a CalSERVES Program Assistant for three years, where she recruited and trained new AmeriCorps members and helped support various program components at different school sites. Yesenia became a CalSERVES staff member after serving as an AmeriCorps member for two years; one year serving as a mentor in our Family Literacy Evening Program, and her second year as a Full-Time After School Team Leader. Previous to CalSERVES and AmeriCorps, Yesenia also served two years as a California Mini-Corps mentor, where she worked with migrant and ELL students grades K-12. Yesenia received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sonoma State University in 2008, and is currently pursuing a Master in Arts degree in Education, focusing on Teacher Leadership. She is passionate about education and enjoys taking pictures in her free time.
