Manager, Volunteer Programs
Barbara brings over 15 years experience to CalSERVES in grant and project management, with an emphasis in the human services arena. Currently, Barbara manages two AmeriCorps projects; the Volunteer Infrastructure Project, which engages 140 full time members throughout California to build non-profit and educational organizations’ volunteer capacity and CalPREP, which provides 1:1 college focused mentoring to 40 sites throughout the state. These mentors will work with students from grades 5-12 in developing their college readiness.
Before joining CalSERVES, Barbara was a Project Director at the Center for Applied Research Solutions, leading the statewide training and technical assistance substance abuse prevention project. She worked with counties and community agencies across the state providing support to their prevention programs. Previously, at Sonoma State University, she was the Associate Director of the Family Violence Prevention Unit, overseeing state and federal projects in child abuse prevention, domestic violence, working with the Native American community and a parent outreach project. Earlier in her career, she was a Program Manager for the Sonoma County YMCA, managing their large afterschool and summer camp programs.
